Do You Know the Measurable Benefits of Engaging Employees?

Measurable Benefits of Engaging EmployeesWhen your employees are engaged, they are willing to give you their discretionary effort. This leads to a great deal of tangible, measurable benefits for the organizations that do it best.

A recent article in ProfitGuide features an interview with Neil Crawford, partner and Canada talent leader at Aon Hewitt, discussing the 2017 Aon Best Employers in Canada list.

The criteria Aon uses to determine its Best Employers are simple:

  1. Employee Engagement
  2. Senior Leadership (do leaders walk the talk?)
  3. Culture in the Organization
  4. Strength of the Employee Experience

According to Crawford, employers who are effectively engaging their employees and ranking well on the Best Employers list report these measurable benefits:

  • 4% more incremental operating profit
  • 6% more incremental revenue growth
  • 33% less employee turnover
  • Roughly 50% less absenteeism

These are the types of numbers we consistently see when studies are conducted on the effects of strong employee engagement. It’s no surprise, when you consider that engaged employees consistently work harder, put in more effort, and care more about their work.
