5 Reasons Why Employee Engagement Matters [Video]

In this video, I discuss the five key areas where you can expect to get significant returns by successfully engaging employees.

1. Productivity

Productivity is heavily dependent on employee engagement. Studies show that actively engaged employees are up to 50% more productive than actively disengaged employees. Having many engaged employees will have a huge impact on your company’s productivity.

2. Customer Loyalty

Employee engagement is the most important variable for creating customer loyalty. When customers have to deal with a disengaged employee, they do not have a good experience. It is the biggest reason they defect to your competition.

3. Retention

Employees who are engaged are less likely to leave, even for money. They feel challenged, respected, trusted, and fulfilled in their job.  When the estimated cost to replace a minimum wage employee is $3,200, this is a costly issue to ignore.

4. Absenteeism

Engaged employees take fewer days for sick leave and are more present when on the job. Only 5% of engaged employees admit to taking time off when not sick, as compared to 29% of employees who are unhappy with their bosses.

5. Workplace Accidents

Employee EngagementA global mining company with eleven mines found the top five engaged mines had 50% fewer workplace accidents than the bottom six. The top mines also found and fixed 33% more workplace hazards than their disengaged counterparts.

Engaging employees pays. Watch the video to learn more about each of these reasons why.
